The complaints from students about the overcrowded bus system are only growing across campus.
LSU is welcoming its largest freshman class in the university’s history. Now, with first years being required to live on campus, others are noticing the lack of breathing room on Tiger Trails’ buses.
There are currently thirty-one buses in circulation and only twenty in service during school hours. Last year, approximately 81,000 people a month rode on these buses.
Jeff Campbell, Senior Director of LSU Parking and Transportation Services, says the school is working with an outside consulting firm to “look at all things parking”. The Parking and Transportation Services is awaiting their reports arrival.
A new route has been re-purposed to S. Quad Dr. for commuter parking lot, which is intended to get students to class much faster.
At this time, Parking and Transportation does not see an immediate need to add any more buses.
