  • Calling all country fans! Singer-songwriter Chase Rice performs at The Texas Club tonight at 9 p.m. Tickets are $29.

  • Come out for a show from New Orleans-based funk-rock band Flow Tribe with local R&B five-piece Alabaster Stag at the Varsity Theatre. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. Show at 9 p.m. 

  • Starting its three-show run tonight, New Venture Theatre debuts “Plenty of Time” at LSU Studio Theatre. Showtime is 7:30. Tickets are $20 with a student ID.


  • Stock up on farm-fresh produce at the Red Stick Farmers Market from 8 a.m. to noon at 5th and Main streets downtown.

  • Baton Rouge Fashion Council’s annual Fall Fashion Fest is back at Tin Roof Brewing Company. Shop the newest gameday wear, enjoy food trucks and beer, and stick around for an outdoor fashion show hosted by blogger and LSUSports.net reporter Emily Dixon. The festival is free and is from 4-7 p.m.

  • Check out some local music with psych-rock four-piece Quarx at Barcadia Baton Rouge. Show at 9 p.m. No cover.  


  • For National Dog Day, rescue a new pet or bring donations for The Velvet Cactus Baton Rouge’s Dog Adoption and Pet Food/Supply Drive. 3-6 p.m.

  • End of Summer Dog Pool Pawty at BREC’s Liberty Lagoon, 1-3 p.m. There will be two separate sessions for dogs under and over 40 pounds. RSVP to the Facebook event, and read the “Pool Pawty” rules here. The event is limited to 100 dogs.

  • Sip on free mimosas at Lee Michaels Fine Jewelry on Corporate Blvd. to celebrate the company’s new collaboration with local jewelry maker Mimosa Handcrafted. Shop for new pieces from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.


  • Register to vote in Free Speech Plaza with Geaux Vote, 10:30 a.m.- 2 p.m.

  • Come out for a free class with Yoga on the Lakes at BREC’s Milford Wampold Memorial Park. 6:30-7:30 p.m.


  • Local college rock band Neutral Snap returns to the Varsity Theatre. Tickets are $7.50 in advance and $15 at the door. Show at 8:30 p.m.

  • Before you head to Neutral Snap’s show, get to the Varsity Theatre for the LSU Science Cafe. The event will feature a free lecture from LSU Geography and Anthropology professor Craig Colten, as well as complimentary food from The Chimes Restaurant & Tap Room. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the talk will start at 6 p.m.


  • Hosted by the Student Activities Board, Spoken Word Poetry Slam returns to the Live Oak Lounge in the LSU Student Union from 7-9 p.m.

  • Jazz rock band Papadosio performs at the Varsity Theatre. Higher Learning opens the show at 9 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.

  • Come out for a special viewing of comedian-turned-director Bo Burnham’s indie film “Eighth Grade” at the Manship Theatre, located downtown at the Shaw Center for the Arts. Tickets are $9.50. The showing starts at 9 p.m. 

  • Start brainstorming trivia team names for Barcadia Baton Rouge’s “How I Met Your Mother” trivia night. Playing begins at 8 p.m. and is $10 per person (cash only!). Register your team here.

  • Yoga Rouge hosts a “Flow in the Dark” hot power class with dark paints, tape and glow sticks. The class begins at 8 p.m. Admission is $10 for members and $25 for non-members.
