The University announced in a email sent to students that LSUPD will increase its number of troops on campus following two armed robberies on campus in consecutive nights.

The email included tips for staying safe at night such as walking in groups, using Campus Transit or LSUPD to safely travel across campus and downloading the LSU SHIELD app to send notifications about suspicious activity.

"LSU employs more than 70 trained and certified police officers who patrol campus 24 hours a day, seven days a week, but the police can’t be everywhere at once," the email says. "We must all work together to utilize the services offered, make safe choices, and report suspicious activity."

A University student was robbed of an iPhone outside of Kirby Smith Hall on Jan. 10 at approximately 12:45 a.m by three armed men who fled the area, according to LSU Media Relations director Ernie Ballard. LSUPD released photos of the suspects the following day.

A University student was robbed of an iPhone and purse outside of Blake Hall by two men who then fled the area around 1:30 a.m. Thursday morning, according to Ballard.
